Belfast Maritime Festival 2023

While we are closing down we were invited by Maritime Belfast to take part in the 2023 Maritime Festival where the Lifeboat was exhibited in Belfast for the first time since 2016. It was a busy weekend chatting to locals and tourists about the Lifeboat and Nomadic's history.

Beginning of the end

We have now been dormant as a Society since the end of 2016 when due to a dwindling membership, fewer opportunities to work with Nomadic in a hands on capacity and increasing operating costs conspired to pause our activities until such times as we were able to reassess our options and offer something different. Death of Sir Andrew Duff-Gordon

Our former honorary President Sir Andrew Duff-Gordon died on 24 April 2023 Our sympathies to his family.

Back home (again)

After going on display in America in 2017 we are pleased to say Nomadic's No 2 Lifeboat is back this side of the Atlantic as of January 2023.

2017: Lifeboat on Display

Nomadic's conserved Lifeboat has been hired by White Star Memories to be a part of an exhibition 'Titanic in Photographs' on the Queen Mary in Long Beach California where it will be a tangible link to the lifeboats of the Titanic and promote the Nomadic internationally.

2016: Society goes Dormant
