2016 hit the ground running with the AGM being held onboard Nomadic in January and final planning completing for the main event in 2016, the joint convention for Nomadic Preservation Society and British Titanic Society held 8-10 April 2016 @ Hilton Belfast in Layton Place

The full Convention package included: 2 nights B&B accommodation, buffet on Friday night , followed by talks then the BTS AGM. Saturday was a full tour schedule with Visits to the Thompson Dock where Titanic was outfitted followed by lunch in the Thompson Dock Pump house, then visit Titanic Belfast and SS Nomadic – Last of the White Star Line with a special appearance from the newly restored Lifeboat.

The day was finished by the Gala dinner in the Hilton’s Lagan suite where there was live music and Senan Molony after dinner entertainment in the form of a Mystery to solve. Bob Angel was awarded the Roy Snowden Award, named for a good friend and stalwart Nomadic enthusiast, for his sterling work on replicating Nomadic’s Lifeboat plaques.

For those that could stay until the Sunday afternoon the weekend was rounded off by a Bus tour of Belfast with a stop at the Titanic Memorial Garden to lay wreaths.

Lifeboat news

A contract has been signed with White Star Memories to hire the Lifeboat for a year. As David Scott-Beddard is a Director of WSM he voluntarily stood down as NPS Chair to prevent a conflict of interest arising in accordance with the NPS constitution. David Young who served as membership secretary and NPS representative on the Nomadic Charitable Trust has accepted the position.
